Steve’s career in the construction industry spans over fifty years. He has extensive industry experience in all facets of construction including Hospitality, Heavy and Light Industry, Building Litigation amongst other areas. He founded Madden and Associates in 1995 after recognising inconsistencies in the building industry - a lack of representation and transparency saw some builders charging exorbitant prices that were not reflective of the market standards. In some cases, this amounted to many millions of dollars.

In his own words, Steve says;

“It was at this point that I decided to work for myself and to give independent advice and service to the hospitality industry”.

His extensive experience as an independent Project Manager and Quantity Surveyor in Australia as well as overseas gave him the confidence to provide a service that previously had not existed in his chosen industry. Steve sought to realign costs to better reflect the market and ultimately endeavoured to provide customer tailored solutions. Steve quickly gained a reputation as being a leader in both the Project Management and Quantity Surveying fields. Through his dedication and leadership, he has created a vibrant and professional company that has led to Madden and Associates longstanding achievements and accomplishments. Steve is a Life Member of the Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors, a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Building and a Registered Tax Agent, offering advice on all matters related to building depreciation.
